Like many people nowadays, you may be stuck with ADSL for Internet. The NBN roll-out has been a long drawn out process, and often the final reality does not meet expectations (read some customers opinions on NBN here – https://goo.gl/Ti3ZPW).
If you are running a business that needs better Internet speeds, or you’re just sick and tired of waiting for your favourite Netflix show to download, then you may be able to get a fixed wireless solution at your premises.
How does it work?
A small wireless station is mounted to your roof, or high up on a wall of your premises. This receiver then speaks back to an access point on a tower (that could be many kilometres away), to provide you with Internet download speeds of up to 100Mpbs. Depending on your location and chosen plan, you may even be able to get 100Mpbs upload speeds too! The output from the station on your premises then feeds in to your Internet Router inside, and then provides all your devices with super-fast Internet. Users are unaware that their connection is a wireless connection, as it’s got more in common with a Fibre connection than an ADSL connection (faster speed and lower latency).
Is it reliable?
Let’s be honest here, the answer is “it depends”. But in reality, the answer is “yes”.
The service is often considered less reliable than ADSL as it is effected by things like storms and other external factors, which can often lower the speed and increase the latency of your connection. What many people fail to factor in is that even at half speed, a 50 Mbps connection is still faster than the theoretical fastest speed of 24Mbps you’ll get from an ADSL connection.
How long does it take to get installed?
After completing the sign up process, you will often have an installation date within a week. Then when your installer arrives, they will likely get the job done within a couple of hours depending on the construction of your premises.
I run a business, how much downtime can I expect?
Virtually none! As this service does not use your phone line, it can be installed along side of your existing Internet connection. Then when installation and testing is complete, we can simply re-configure your Internet router for the new connection, and swap it over. If you’re at all concerned about the new connection, you can leave your old connection running for a while, or even permanently (until the NBN shuts it off!).
Can I get a fixed/static IP?
Yes. All business grade plans come with a free fixed IP. Fuze IT can even assist in creating A records from your DNS hosting so you can use people friendly addresses such as office.yourbusiness.com.au instead of the difficult to remember IP address.
